The StorageLayer (SoftLayer's proprietary storage solution including EVault backup, NAS, and ISCSI storage), provides improved failover capabilities, with high-speed access to both sites for onsite or offsite backup and disaster recovery, and ISCSI snapshots and global datacenter-to-datacenter replication for higher protection. In addition, customers can now access the private network via out-of-band VPN connections in either Dallas or Seattle.

The host of new services the company plans to release in the first quarter of 2008 will also focus on geographical redundancy, improved performance, and data protection, as well as SoftLayer’s central goal to provide fully outsourced IT operations and “serverless operations for startups and mature businesses.
